November 2, 2015 – James Jiang, CEO of Toronto-based cross-border investment firm Arche Capital, participated in a landmark Canada-China business golf tournament led by former Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chrétien in Shanghai. The event, organized by the Canada China Business Council (CCBC) and the China Entrepreneur Club, marked the first competitive match between Chinese and Canadian corporate leaders on Chinese soil.
As part of the 2015 "BMW·Daonong Cup" Invitational series, the two-day program combined sports diplomacy with strategic networking. Over 100 executives from both nations engaged in golf matches and sector-focused roundtables, with discussions spanning advanced manufacturing, clean tech, and digital innovation.
“This initiative reflects how informal networks can catalyze formal partnerships,” said Jiang. “We‘re exploring joint ventures that align Ontario’s tech capabilities with China’s industrial modernization priorities.” Chrétien echoed this sentiment: “Trust is built on shared experiences – whether on the green or in the boardroom.”
The tournament underscores Arche Capital’s commitment to bridging North American expertise with Asian market opportunities through culturally nuanced engagement models.
