Toronto, August 9, 2025 — The 2025 UIBE Canada Alumni Conference convened at the headquarters of Arche Capital in the Greater Toronto Area, assembling over one hundred esteemed graduates at the prominent “Glenmaura” on Yonge Street. The event provided an important platform for renewing professional relationships, sharing visionary ideas for institutional and personal advancement, and engaging in thoughtful reflection on the historical origins and contemporary importance of the New UIBE Spirit.

Central to the discussions was a careful examination of the landmark 2000 merger between the former China Institute of Finance and Banking and the University of International Business and Economics. This union gave rise to a unique academic philosophy captured by the phrase finance as the soul, commerce as the pulse. Attendees reaffirmed that this philosophy continues to represent a dual mission: the development of future leaders dedicated to national economic progress and the embrace of a global outlook committed to responsible stewardship of international trade. This enduring synthesis combines a commitment to domestic development with the demands of global engagement.
The keynote address, entitled Rethinking Corporate Innovation in the Age of AI, was delivered by Professor Shi Jianjun, former president of UIBE. His presentation offered both theoretical frameworks and practical insights, highlighting the profound transformations artificial intelligence is driving within corporate environments. The address stimulated rich dialogue among participants as they considered the consequences of algorithmic decision making, adaptive technologies, and accelerated innovation for entrepreneurship and governance alike.

The conference programme also featured a formal flag-raising ceremony, curated cultural performances, and a charity auction. These elements contributed to a dynamic and meaningful atmosphere in which alumni and guests demonstrated their cultural talents and expressed a strong commitment to community service and social responsibility.

One of the co founders of Arche Capital and a proud UIBE alumnus articulated the firm’s guiding principle: Arche Capital Order Unbound. Drawing from both Eastern and Western intellectual traditions, his remarks presented a compelling vision of finance as a tool for advancing human progress. This fusion of cultural perspectives reinforced the conference’s theme of bridging heritage and innovation to promote societal development.
The gathering transcended the typical alumni reunion by serving as a powerful affirmation of shared values and collective purpose. The New UIBE Spirit, characterised by intellectual courage, visionary ambition, and steadfast principles, continues to inspire graduates around the world. In an age marked by rapid technological change and complex interconnections, this spirit provides a vital compass for principled leadership and innovative action across diverse fields.
