UNESCO South Africa Chair Visits Arche CapitalJoint Preparations Launched for the 2026 Global STEM Education Summit

Toronto, Canada — November 12 — Mr. Senakrim Mekonnen Bezih, UNESCO South Africa Chairholder and President of the Ethiopia Robotics Club, visited the Toronto headquarters of Arche Capital to discuss preparations for the upcoming 2026 UNESCO Chair on Children and Youth Technology and Engineering Education Global STEM Development Exchange Summit. He met with Dr. Chris Zhang, UNESCO Canada Chairholder and Co Founder of Arche Capital, for an in depth and productive working session.

The visit marks the official launch of the preparatory phase for the 2026 global STEM education summit, scheduled to take place between late 2025 and early 2026 at Arche Capital’s White House on Yonge headquarters in Toronto. The event will be jointly hosted by UNESCO Chairholders and Arche Capital, bringing together international leaders in education, technology, and youth development.

Mr. Mekonnen emphasized that Africa holds significant potential and innovative practices in technology and engineering education. He stated that Africa looks forward to showcasing its achievements and emerging strengths to the world through this global gathering in Toronto, with the goal of promoting balanced and inclusive development in STEM education worldwide.

Arche Capital expressed its full commitment as a co organizer, noting that the summit will serve as a vital platform for advancing global collaboration in STEM education. The organization will mobilize international resources across academia, industry, and public policy to ensure the event is delivered to the highest standards.

The 2026 summit builds on the momentum of UNESCO’s 2024 conference held in Nanjing, China, which strengthened global cooperation within the UNESCO Chair network. Following the meeting between the South Africa and Canada Chairholders at Arche Capital’s headquarters, the international coordination framework for the 2026 Global STEM Education Summit is now formally underway.
